POMONA - The dA Center for the Arts in downtown has several things
going on this summer, one of which is "out of this world."
Beginning Saturday through July 26, the center will offer a space
show with slides from the Apollo missions along with an artist's
renditions of space.
The launch of A.S. Ashley's "The Space Shizzle, Apollo Number
II," will be made at the center. The community night preview
will be tonight from 6 to 10 with the opening reception Saturday
from 6 to 10 p.m. at the center, 252 D S. Main St.
One aspect of the showing will be the Cosmic Space Convention planned
from 3 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Featured will be authors of several space-related books including
Greg Bishop and Mat Gleason. Completing the evening will be a light
show by Franz Keller and a performance by "Lux Nova Umbra Est:
Light is the New Dark."
The gallery is regularly open Wednesdays through Saturdays from
noon to 5 p.m.
For the younger set, dA Center is also offering summer art classes.
There are Saturday classes on six consecutive weekends beginning
Saturday costing $60 for the sessions.
