Student-teacher ceramics exhibit at AMOCA
Diana Sholley, Staff Writer

On Saturday, the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona will host an artists' reception for its kilnopening.edu 2010, a biennial education-based exhibition.

Coordinating with Pomona Arts Colony's Second Saturday Art Walk, the reception will feature hors d'oeuvres and wine, with live music by Seth Greenberg and Six String Green.

The exhibition emphasizes the importance of college-level ceramic programs offered in the area by showcasing the work of local faculty members and students in a professional museum setting.

Previously the exhibit only ran three weeks, but kilnopening.edu 2010 will run for two months.

According to its website, AMOCA, founded in 2001, is one of the few museums in the United States devoted exclusively to ceramic art and historic innovations in ceramic technology. Its mission is to educate by presenting, collecting and preserving significant ceramic achievements of the world's cultures from ancient times to the present.
