| The Pomona Arts Colony has kept its canvases
busy with great shows recently—aren’t they
always? The dA Center for the Arts just wrapped its “The
New Traditionalists” and “In Front of the
Real Thing” (a collaboration with the Pomona College
Museum of Art) but the good news is that there’s
still one whole weekend left for you to check out Bunny
Gunner Gallery’s “Muse Cruise,” a two-man
show featuring tons of ink by artists Brent Harada and
Rusty Jordan, and their collaborations on zine-inspired,
black and white drawings. Gnarly. Drug-induced. Mystical.
Mega-weird. These are the kind of words we’ve heard
bandied about when trying to describe this “cartoon
documentary.” If you ever wondered how a strong
dose of ’60s underground comix and some good, clean
acid would affect the artistic temperament, here ya go.
Fans of Harada and Jordan’s Moulder Bag Digest #2
and their other way-way-way-way out there mini-comics
will eat up this show. Off-register, off-kilter and totally
on-point, “Muse Cruise” offers both sick and
twisted art and complete visual accomplishment.
“Muse Cruise: Drawings by Brent Harada & Rusty
Jordan” at Bunny Gunner Gallery, 266 W. Second St.,
Pomona, (909) 868-2808; www.bunnygunner.com. Thru Feb.
9. Tue-Fri, 11AM-7PM; Sat, noon-6PM.
