Pomona Valley Art Association's show opens Saturday

POMONA - The Pomona Valley Art Association's 28th annual Open Juried Art Show will begin Saturday in the basement level of the Progress Space Gallery, 300-B S. Thomas St.

Artists from the Inland Empire and beyond will exhibit their artwork in the showing through May 24.

The opening reception will be Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

"PVAA's Open Juried Art Show is one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious art shows in the Inland Valley," said Linda Hauser, membership chairman for the PVAA.

"Hundreds of talented artists enter this art show each year; we have many well known, award-winning artists, as well as beginning artists who are entering their artwork in an art exhibition for the first time.

"Our annual art exhibition is always the highlight of the year and most of the artwork is for sale. We enjoy sharing it with as many art enthusiasts as possible."

This year's juror is Bill Anderson, who taught art for 38 years and has served as juror for major art associations. He is an accomplished artist exhibiting in solo and group exhibits both nationally and internationally.

Anderson's works are included in permanent collections in the National Museum of Watercolor and in Australia, Guatemala, Japan and Mexico.
The gallery, which charges no admission, is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., though this Saturday it will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The awards reception will be held on May 24 from 2-4 p.m.
